In Dortmund, a dramatic water pipe break has transformed the eastern city center into a chaos! The fire brigade has been in use since Tuesday morning to combat the devastating consequences. The use has now ended, but the damage is enormous.
The von-der-Goltz-Straße in the Kaiserstraßenviertel is like a battlefield after a flood. Flooded roads, large flashes of water, mud and loose stones shape the picture. A mini is even sagged into a deep hole, only a power line keeps the vehicle above water!

A water pipe is broken with high pressure, and the reasons for this are still unclear. Matthias Kleinhans from the Dortmund fire brigade reported: "We had to pump out a number of cellars, the water was sometimes 70 centimeters high." The residents are shocked! Sina Gietmann says: "My neighbor woke me up, I couldn't believe it at first. There was a real river at the door here!"
The effects are devastating: an old people's home nearby is also affected, the parking lot is flooded, and sludge blocks the inputs. At times no patient transports were possible! The residents are now fighting to clean their basements and examine the damage.

The DEW21 water supplier has already sealed off the pipe in the morning to prevent further water. But the repair of the street and the water tube is still imminent!
