Rescue operation for Austria's film industry: Politics under pressure!

In an urgent warning for the Austrian film industry, Alexander Dumreicher-Vivanu, chairman of the Film and Music Industry Association, demanded rapid action in politics to support the financial incentive model ÖFI+. In view of the application stop and financial bottlenecks, numerous film projects are on the brink. "However, the funds are not enough to cover all submitted projects," he said. This could not only endanger the international success of Austrian film - it gives the example of the Berlinale, where nine Austrian films are represented - but also cause considerable damage to the entire film industry and its trustworthiness, such as Oots.at.

Minister of Culture Claudia Roth announced that around 23 million euros will be provided for the renovation and modernization of over 30 nationally significant cultural institutions in Germany. These funds come from the program "Investments in nationally important cultural institutions in Germany" (INK). The funded institutions include the Hamburg Ballet Center and the Dortmund Opera House. Roth emphasized that the funds should help to make the cultural infrastructure fit for the future and to meet the diverse demands of the public. A strong cultural life is of crucial importance for the society, which underlines the need for these investments, such as Kulturstaatsminminminminus.de

These two developments show how important support is on a political level for the cultural and film industry. While Austria has urgent need for action to avert impending production failures, Germany is investing in the renewal of its cultural institutions to ensure their future relevance.
