New research focus: decrypt music history in Burgenland!

In a remarkable step, the Burgenland State Archives is the basis for exciting research projects at the JHP University. As part of this initiative, valuable stocks are handed over to historical music history, while the musicologist Beatrix Darmstädter emphasizes that this will open up numerous new research opportunities. Particularly noteworthy is the estate of composer Peter Zauner, who created the state anthem of Burgenland. This estate makes it possible to create his list of works and update its biography, which according to the managing director of the university, Franz Steindl, is an important contribution to scientific research. Also living artists, such as the composer Christian Kolonovits, are the focus of the initiative, which is supported by the Kibu association and which aims to secure other important works by well -known composers, reported ORF.AT.

research project on Peter Grund

At the same time, an interdisciplinary team from the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences, Technical University Dortmund and Philipps University Marburg is researching the work of the architect Peter Grund. The project funded by the German Research Foundation illuminates the architectural significance in the first half of the 20th century. His career stretched over decisive historical phases, starting in Dortmund to Darmstadt, where he took a key position in the reconstruction of the city after the Second World War. The aim of the project is to digitize the architectural estate of the ground up and to comprehensively analyze the networks and institutional structures in which he worked. The innovative concept, which includes both the Darmstadt City Archives as well as the archive for architecture and engineering construction in North Rhine-Westphalia, creates new insights into architectural history, as explained on Uni-marburg.de.

These two important research initiatives not only underline the commitment to preserving and researching the cultural heritage, but also the networking of the science community across different disciplines. They offer academics and interested parties the opportunity to gain deeper insights into musical and architectural history.
