Liedbachtalbrücke blown up: traffic on the A1 soon free again!
on Sunday, December 15, 2024, the Liedbachtal Bridge on the A1 near Dortmund and Unna was successfully blown up. The Westphalia motorway had called for this measure to completely block the route between the Dortmund/Unna and Westhofen motorway junction. According to Autobahn GmbH, the explosion worked according to schedule: the two 300 -meter -long steel bridge and concrete weighing about 8,700 tons fell exactly into the prepared fall bed under the bridge.
This was necessary because the blown -out buildings were between two other bridge parts in the middle, which required precise planning, which, according to the Westphalia motorway, was successfully implemented. A few weeks earlier, the traffic on the A1 had been diverted via a new bridge section built next to the old bridge. After the explosion, the traffic is to be released again on Sunday evening at around 10 p.m.
further conversion planned
Work on the Liedbachtal Bridge that has been running since the end of 2021 are part of a comprehensive new building. Due to its age of over 60 years and the rapidly increased traffic volume, the old bridge had considerable deficits in terms of load -bearing capacity and fatigue strength. For this reason, restrictions on heavy goods traffic were also ordered. The demolition of another sub-building is planned in the coming year to further promote the construction site, such as lippewelle.de The construction of the bridge should meet the requirements of today's traffic and increase the safety on this busy route.
