Great fire in Dortmund: Fire brigade saves residents from accommodation!
In the night of December 27, 2024, there was a fire in a refugee accommodation in Dortmund. Like t-online.de reported at around 2.45 a.m. in a room of a residential container. The residents reacted quickly, left their rooms and alerted the fire brigade.
Thanks to the rapid action of the fire brigade, the fire could be brought under control quickly. However, three people suffered smoke poisoning; Two of them were hospitalized for security. The exact cause of the fire is so far unclear. The criminal police secured the crime scene and started investigations. In the meantime, 20 residents are temporarily accommodated in another accommodation.

The data from 2015 and 2016 show that 75% of fire events took place in inhabited accommodations, with over 40% performing in kitchens. While five deaths and 876 injuries were documented in 2015, there were no deaths in 2016, but 651 injured. Statistically speaking, the injuries are mainly due to flue gas intertoxics.
