The magical Christmas has started! On Thursday, November 21, the Dortmund Christmas city opened its doors and has been attracting numerous visitors since then. But the climax came on Monday, November 25th, when the spectacular switching on the world's largest Christmas tree took place in the Hansaplatz. At 6 p.m. the 138,000 LED lights shone in full splendor, and people flocked to experience this impressive spectacle live or in the stream!
Traditionally, the Christmas tree is snapped at after the Sunday of the Dead, and this year too, a four -meter angel adorns the tip of the majestic tree. From 5:45 p.m., an exciting show program created the right mood before the lights were illuminated in a breathtaking moment. The new lighting technology ensures that each of the 138,000 lights can be controlled individually and the colors can change - a visual festival that amazes visitors!

The Dortmund Christmas city celebrates its 125th anniversary this year and offers more than 250 stands that attract with festive treats and handmade gifts. Another highlight is this year's Christmas cup that shows a penguin with a scarf in the city colors red and white, together with the Reinoldikirche in the background. This cup has been a sought -after collecting object since 2002, and showmen Günther Wendler warns: "If you want to have one, you should hurry. If away, then gone!" The cups are quickly out of print, and last year they were sold out after three weeks.
