Reading day in Havixbeck: Children's eyes shine in bilingual stories!
In Havixbeck, children experienced an unforgettable reading day that inspired the imagination! The popular children's book author Ulrike Fischer and the Kurdish mother Rojin Hajji kidnapped the small listeners with the bilingual book "Friends is everywhere" into the world of reading - and that in three languages! For the first time, children from the DAZ groups (German as a second language) at the Baumberge elementary school had the opportunity to hear the stories in their Ukrainian, Kurdish and Arab mother tongue. A truly multicultural experience!
On Friday, the nationwide reading day took place at the Baumberge elementary school, and the event was a complete success! The school's support association was able to set a record with proud 27 volunteers. Among the readers were not only Ulrike Fischer and Rojin Hajji, but also Mayor Jörn Möltgen, pastor Oliver Kösters and many other local personalities who inspired the children together. The atmosphere was electrifying when the children greeted the protagonists with loud applause and the joy of reading aloud was felt.
imaginative stories and great enthusiasm
The children immersed in fantastic worlds, while listening to stories such as "Emil Einstein-The Strictly Secret Tier-Quassel machine" and "Anton and the knitting monster". The stories about the Holy Ottilie and the adventures in Vietnam also left a permanent impression. The children's conversations according to the readings testified to the great effect that had reading aloud on their imagination. "Reading, reading and listening are of great importance," emphasized headmistress Stefanie Temme and the support association.
The anticipation for next year is already noticeable, because on the third Friday in November the nationwide reading day will be celebrated again at the Baumberge School. Maybe one or the other book will even land on the Christmas desired notes! A day that not only promotes love for reading, but also strengthens the community!
