Christmas magic in Bottrop: Exchange baubles in the town hall tavern!

The Rathausschänke in Bottrop shines in its festive splendor again! After a creative idea from entrepreneur Gregor Schaefers to revitalize the city's bar scene through a citizens' cooperative, the pub was opened for the first time during Pub Night on November 9th. The response was overwhelming: many Bottrop residents flocked to celebrate the reopening and find out about the cooperative's plans. "There were a lot of people there for such a cold start. Many are happy that the pub is open again," says Schaefers, who has already received 36 expressions of interest.

Exciting Christmas events are coming up now! A literature exchange will take place from November 21st to 24th under the motto “Bring three books, take three back with you”. But the highlight is the Christmas ball exchange, which will take place in the Rathausschänke from November 28th to December 1st, just in time for Bottrop's Christmas magic. “We want to exchange Christmas baubles with you and also hang up your old or current Christmas baubles in the town hall tavern,” announces Schaefers. The licensing permit for this event has been applied for but has not yet been granted.

Advent exchanges and readings

The anticipation for Advent is increasing! From December 5th to 8th, the Rathausschänke will host readings on the theme of “Christmas from different cultures”. Further Advent exchanges are planned: Christmas fairy tales can be exchanged from December 12th to 15th, and the last exchange from December 19th to 22nd will be celebrated with a Secret Santa. The Rathausschänke is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more information, those interested can visit the Rathausschänke Facebook page.
