Pastor couple Kunstmann leaves Borken: Return to village life!
Borken, Hessen, Deutschland - A pastor couple continues in Borken after five years! Barbara and Björn Kunstmann have decided to leave the city and to face a new challenge in Nidda/Witzhausen in March 2025. "We want to go back to the village," they explain with anticipation. On Sunday, November 10th, a farewell service will take place in the Evangelical Church in Borken, in which dean Sabine Tümmler will also be present.
The move does not come without challenges. When they started in Borken in 2019, hope was great to find a new home for their young family. But the reality was different: the merging of the parish offices led to a job reduction, and the couple had to take care of 2,700 parishioners. "We hardly had time to get to know the local people," recalls Björn Kunstmann. In the past five years, they have held 450 services and 250 funerals while looking after their two children at the same time. "It was all very nice, but also a lot," says Barbara Kunstmann.
The urge back to the village
The longing for a quieter life in the village became increasingly stronger. "We need the close proximity to people," said the couple. In September, they decided to take half a sabbath year to re -sort themselves. While you still live in the Borken rectory, the position is already advertised again. Pastor Doris Krause takes over the representation.
"Many parishioners regret our decision, but can also understand us," says Barbara Kunstmann. With the promise for the new parish office in Nidda/Witzhausen you have a clear view of the future. There they want to take it easy and have more time for their family again. A new phase of life is imminent!
