A dramatic spectacle on the A 49! On the early Thursday evening, a Mercedes E-Class turned into a blazing inferno, just a few hundred meters before the exit. The driver, who noticed smoke in the interior around 7:40 p.m., reacted quickly: he steered the vehicle on the hard shoulder and escaped unharmed. The police suspect a technical defect as the cause of the fire.

Under the direction of Bork's military leader Mario Diehl, the Borken fire brigade moved in with an impressive contingent: operating vehicles and two water -bearing vehicles stormed for rescue. A brave squad under respiratory protection struggled through the flames, set water and later foam to conquer the fire. The vehicle was finally checked with a thermal imaging camera before the road was cleaned. But the Mercedes could no longer be saved - an economic total damage!

The Ludwig company from Schwalmstadt finally took over the salvage of the burned -out wreck. A total of 18 firefighters were deployed to control the situation. A patrol car crew from the Baunatal police motorway station documented the incident meticulously. An evening that will certainly be remembered for everyone involved!
