Recklinghausen and Borken districts: Green plan for waste management!
From January 1, 2025, the Recklinghausen districts and Borken intensify their cooperation in waste management. This extended cooperation based on a public law agreement includes the joint utilization of organic and hospital waste. The aim is to make waste management more ecologically and economically more efficient, such as "https://dorsten-online.de/kreis-re-und-borken-tensivieren-glambeit-in-der- Abfallwirtschaft/"> dorsten-online.de . The agreement was approved by the Münster district government and is initially valid until 2039.
The two circles have been working on the recycling of organic waste since 2014, with the organic waste from Recklinghausen being processed in the facilities of the Ekocity waste management association in Herten. However, the treatment of hospital waste from the Borken district is new. In the future, these will also be disposed of in the Ekocity facilities. The district councilors of the two circles, Bodo Klimpel and Dr. Kai Zwicker, emphasize that this cooperation not only ensures the stabilization of the waste fees in both circles, but also drives ecological questions.
positive effects of cooperation
As part of this cooperation, the transport logistics are also improved, with the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies. Since 2024, a battery-electric tractor-trailer has been used, which is operated with electricity from renewable energies to reduce CO₂ emissions. These measures are in accordance with the recommendations for inter -municipal cooperation, which are summarized in a document of iDr . The cooperative strategies should not only offer economic advantages, but also protect the environment sustainably and increase resource efficiency.
