ATM in Borken blown up: explosion shakes the Sparkasse!
In a spectacular incident, an ATM was blown up in Borken, more precisely in the Sparkasse Borken-Schwalmstadt on Europaplatz, in the early morning hours of October 30, 2024! The explosion occurred around 2 a.m. and was so huge that debris was thrown onto the glass building on the Bahnhofstrasse. The damage in the banking area and the adjacent offices are enormous, but they cannot yet be quantified. The emergency services were on the spotlight!

After hailing the ATMs, they teamed up and hurriedly fled on foot. The police asks the population to be vigilant, do not take hitchhikers with them and report suspects immediately - the search for the perpetrator is in full swing!

Fortunately, no people were injured in the explosion. Nevertheless, the “Defar Mountains” of the State Criminal Police Office are already in use to examine the explosives discovered at the old indoor pool in the mining city. The Borken fire brigade was also alerted. Under the direction of military leader Mario Diehl, they ventilated the affected space and highlighted the forecourt of the Sparkasse for the investigation. Meanwhile, the first city councilor Holger Rautte personally looked at the situation.As a consequence of this exciting incident, the Sparkasse will remain closed on today's World Savings Day.
