German handball players win in a duel against Oranje: 27:23!

Innsbruck, Österreich - Finally a victory for the German handball players! In the gripping opening game of the Golden League in Norway, they conquered the Netherlands with 27:23 (12:10). After the bitter defeat against the hosts two days ago (30:32), the girls under national coach Markus Gaugisch showed impressive learning progress. Especially the performance of Alina Grijseels, who shone with eight goals, stands out, while Nina Engel also scored brilliant five goals.

The way to victory

After an initial head-to-head race, left wing Alexia Hauf took the lead in the 14th minute with an 8: 6. But this small lead did not last long - the German team had consumed the energy and was only two goals at the front at half time. Gaugisch demanded more intensity during a break than the team was briefly on the brink of 12:13 (35th minute).

But the coach's strong words were fruitful: the girls tortured each other and carried the fight back! Nieke Kühne set the decisive accent with her goal to 23:18 ten minutes before the end. Unlike against Norway, the DHB team remained consistent and successfully brought the lead over time. The encounter between Germany and Denmark will be expected on Sunday (3:45 p.m.) before the German players will prepare for the big goal of European Championship in Innsbruck on November 29, where they will again compete with the Netherlands, Ukraine and Iceland in the preliminary round
