Monument care prices 2024: Heek and Vreden celebrate their winners!
Heek-Ahle, Deutschland - On November 26, 2024, the coveted Felix-Sümmermann Prize was awarded in the Kult Westmünsterland in Vreden, which is awarded every three years for outstanding achievements in the preservation of monuments in the district of Borken. District Administrator Dr. Kai Zwicker welcomed the participants and praised the impressive contributions that the jury had to rate. "Every contribution is worth price," said Zwicker, who himself was part of the jury. Sparkasse Westmünsterland generously supported the event with prize money and honor gifts for the award winners.
The winners in the spotlight
The first places, each endowed with 1,500 euros, went to the Michael Wolfering family from Heek for the exemplary restoration of the monument "Haus Horst" and to the spouses Marco and Corinna Levers from Vreden for their extraordinary performance in the preservation of the "farmhouse Levers Vikarie Marienbrunn". The second prize, rewarded with 1,000 euros, was awarded to the Tangerding family from Rhede-Vardingholt for their cross-generational use to maintain their historical buildings. The third places, each awarded 500 euros, went to Prof. Dr. Bernhard Eylert from Ahaus and Dr. Bernd Gronemeier from Gronau for their extensive restoration work on important monuments.
In addition, a "special price of the district administrator" in the amount of 300 euros was awarded to the Stadtlohner Heimatverein e.V. for the development of a folding blade on the monuments of the city of Stadtlohn and Josef Weilinghoff from Heek for the repair of the former silk weaving mill "Schniewind". Further recognitions were given to various individuals and groups for their committed contributions to the preservation of monuments, including Sebastian Balster from Rhede and the DSD Gut Ross GbR from Reken.
District Administrator Zwicker was enthusiastic about the high response and emphasized the importance of the cultural heritage in the Borken district. The prize, named after Felix Sümmermann, recognizes his tireless commitment to the monument protection and the preservation of historical sites in the region.
