fire fighting and damage height
The emergency services had difficulty fire fighting because several hydrants were old nearby and bricks fell off the roof. A fireman suffered minor injuries during the missions. A turntable ladder was put into position to extinguish the difficult to reach the roof structure. After about 45 minutes the fire was under control, the reversal work lasted until around 11 a.m. A fire guard was maintained by the Hirschberg fire brigade until 1 p.m.
Mayor Christoph Oeldorf was on site to ensure support for the affected residents who had already accommodated friends. The building is uninhabitable, the electricity has been turned off. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, the house has been sealed, but the condition of the four apartments under the attic seems to be free of water damage. The fire brigade was also able to prevent the fire from attacking adjacent buildings.
