Bochum's property tax: Commerce in criticism - taxpayers demand change!
Bochum. The property tax reform in Bochum causes excitement! Treasurer Eva Hubbert has decided on a uniform lifting rate, and this brings violent criticism from the taxpayers' association North Rhine-Westphalia. The appeal is clear: "The Bochum City Council should avoid unnecessary increasing living," warns Rik Steinheuer, the head of the taxpayer association.
Hubbert's decision for the "uniform variant" with 843 percentage points should be more legitimate and guarantee the targeted income of 91.4 million euros. But this step could mean painful additional pollution for many Bochum, especially for owners of older houses with large land. The taxpayers' association fears that the high costs for living in Bochum will not continue to increase. "In the course of the property tax reform, the costs should not increase further," said Steinheuer.
dispute over sliced lifting rates
The treasurer fears that the introduction of a differentiated lifting rate could lead to complaint, which would be expensive for the city. She relies on an expert opinion from the City Association of North Rhine -Westphalia, which supports her concerns. But the taxpayers' association sees it differently: "According to a renowned report, sliced lifting rates can be introduced legally," explains Steinheuer. Two federal states, Schleswig-Holstein and Saxony-Anhalt, have already taken over this regulation, and cities such as Essen also rely on the split variant.
The debate about property tax in Bochum is in full swing. The pressure on the city council is growing to find a solution that does not add additional burdens from the citizens. The next few weeks could be decisive for the future of living in Bochum!
