Hansa fans show clear edge against Elgetis Supervisory Board candidacy

Rostock. On Saturday, November 23, the Baltic Sea Stadium had a heated game that not only caused excitement on the square. Fans of FC Hansa Rostock impressively showed her rejection to investor Rolf Elgeti, who is applying for a place on the club's supervisory board. With several large banners, the followers made it clear that they see his candidacy critically. "But he won't get involved," emblazoned on the largest banner that the Hansa fans had in the south stands, and referred to Elgeti's previous statements.

The entrepreneur, who helped the association from the debt crisis with an investment of around 20 million euros in 2015, is now exposed to massive criticism. Critics fear that his position on the Supervisory Board could lead to a conflict of interest. During the game, further messages were addressed to Elgeti, such as "Rolf, that is enough, no Ar for you" and "Hansa = member association. Investors on the supervisory board? No!". The mood in the ranks was clear: Many fans demand that the legends in the club stay with the members.

Despite the loud protests, there is also a strong base for Elgeti. Some fans and members emphasize that the association may no longer exist without its financial aid. In the east grandstand, visitors are also said to have rolled up a banner that was directed against Elgeti. The Rostockers won the game against Arminia Bielefeld 2-1, while the members of FC Hansa Rostock want to fill the supervisory board on Sunday in an extraordinary meeting. After five members have left, important decisions are now pending and the election is eagerly awaited.
