Fortuna Cologne wins 2-0 and climbs in second place!

In the Jean-Löring sports park in Cologne, an exciting catch-up game of the regional league West of women was played, in which the Fortuna women received the unbeaten table runners-up DSC Arminia Bielefeld. With a highly motivated performance, the Cologne women deservedly won the match with 2-0 and thus climbed second place in the table. This marks the fifth victory in a row for the team.

From the beginning, the southern townspeople showed that they wanted to take control of the game. Despite an initial defensive and passive attitude of the guests from Bielefeld, it was the Fortuna to set the first offensive accents. The first chance was particularly gratifying, which was made possible by Paula Petri's strong duel behavior: she conquered the ball in the opposing half, pulled into the penalty area and scored the first goal of the game in the 13th minute. opportunities and challenges

On the part of the guests, Bielefeld tried to take action directly after the Cologne goal by a free kick, but the ball missed the goal significantly. While Fortuna continued to set up pressure, they had to leave several opportunities unused due to offside positions. The first half ended despite further possibilities for the goal yield with a 1-0 lead for the southern German, which was almost too low in view of the multitude of opportunities.

After the change of sides, a player change was at Fortuna: Vivien Schwing came into play for Emma Gumbel. The Bielefeld women were now challenged to turn the game, while the Fortuna sought to benefit from the areas offering quickly. However, it took up to the 72nd minute before the Cologne women scored their second goal: Annika Boden hit a long ball into the penalty area that the guests could not clarify. Vivien Schwing was on the spot and turned the ball from the turn to 2-0 on the net.

In the remaining minutes, Bielefeld had no real chances to go to her favor, despite all the efforts. Amelie Wortberg and Mara-Lotta Finger took off the Fortuna offensive efforts, which acted defensively in the last phases of the game and defended all Arminia attacks. The final whistle determined the deserved victory for the Cologne women.

With this victory, Fortuna women catapulted women to second place in the table, together with other teams tied, which reinforces the tension in the upper third of the table.
