Apollo cinema starts exciting series: Literature meets film!

The Apollo cinema in Aachen starts a new series of events entitled "From Literature to Film". This initiative aims to examine the differences between literary templates and their cinematic adaptations. Under the curating of Sven Ollig and Nina Janz from the Germanistic Institute, the series is offered in cooperation with the Backhaus bookstore. The inspiration for this program comes from a similar film literature series in a Leipzig Arthouse cinema.

The series of events is aimed at the local audience and aims to win new cinema goers. Literature adaptations offer a wide range of possibilities in different genres and epochs. The first film that is shown in the series is "Marianengraben" by Eileen Byrne, based on Jasmin Schreiber's bestseller. The film celebrates its premiere on January 9, 2024.

Lectures by Nina Janz and Sven Ollig are given to every film, followed by a discussion with the audience. The admission prices are 8 euros, reduced 5 euros. Tickets are available on the box office and on the website of the Apollo cinema.

In addition to the film series, the Apollo cinema starts a second special series entitled "Oscars Finest", in which Oscar-winning films are shown weekly. "La La Land" starts on January 19, 2024 at 1 p.m., as Aachener Zeitung reported. The series of events will continue to be carried out in a cooperation with the Backhaus bookstore, which provides an individually designed book table for each event.

The films are shown without advertising, whereby the trailers of the upcoming films are shown before the demonstrations begin if this is possible. In order to underline the variety of cinematic perspectives, the films are presented in OMU version (original with subtitles), such as Apollo Aachen supplemented.
