An exciting event is imminent! On November 5, 2024, a new president will be elected in the United States - and this election campaign also has an impact on the district of Düren! Here the state statisticians from IT.NRW have revealed a surprising message: Around 160 people with American or double citizenship are reported in this region and have the right to make their vote.
But that's just the tip of the iceberg! There is also a remarkable number of voters in the neighboring circles. In Aachen and the Cities of Region there are impressive 550, while 340 in the district of Heinsberg and 325 Americans are registered in the Rhein-Erft district. These figures give an idea of the importance of the right to vote for international citizens in Germany. However, the exact number of citizens entitled to vote remained unclear, and the statistics authority of IT.NRW could not provide any precise information.
Americans entitled to vote in focus
The possibility that many Americans living in our region will take the election, throws an exciting light on the links between the USA and Germany. While Harris or Trump is chosen, these citizens could hand over decisive votes in their home countries - and from Düren. The intensity and interest in the upcoming choice are clearly noticeable, and many are wondering what effects the voices of these international citizens could ultimately have.
