Wolfsburg plans to renovate large cycle path: security for cyclists 2025!
Wolfsburg. From 2025, the city of Wolfsburg will vigorously invest in the bike paths! The city plans a comprehensive renovation of several badly damaged bike paths, and time is pushing! The asphalt surfaces are in a catastrophic state: cracks, deformations and breakouts make the routes dangerous bumpy slopes for cyclists.
Five central cycle paths are affected, including the connecting path between Kölner Ring and Frankfurter Straße in Mitte-West and the cycle path along Heinrich-Heine-Straße in Stadtmitte. These renovations are not only necessary, but also overdue! The city has planned a budget of one million euros per year to make the bike paths more secure and more comfortable.
bike paths for a greener future
"The maintenance and modernization of our bike paths is an essential building block for sustainable mobility in Wolfsburg," explains city building councilor Kai-Uwe Hirschheide. With the land renewal, the safety of cyclists is put in the foreground. The city of Wolfsburg would like to continuously improve the conditions for cycling and drive the use of the bicycle as an environmentally friendly alternative.
Depending on the extent of the damage, either a partial basic renewal or a complete renovation of the bike paths concerned is carried out. However, the final results of the floor report, which are necessary for the decision, are still pending. For cycle paths, the renovation costs of which are over 300,000 euros, the council of the city of Wolfsburg will receive corresponding resolution templates. The future of cycling in Wolfsburg looks promising!
