New sailing room in sight: André Hanzens builds the Quadra for 2026!

Franeker, Niederlande - The Maritime World of Wilhelmshaven will soon be richer for a new piece of jewelry! The traditional sailor "Avatar", known for its impressive green color, was sold, and André Hanzens has agreed to an exciting new adventure: the "quadra". This impressive project, which consists of an unfinished fuselage from the 1990s, will be the fourth sailing project of the captain and ship engineer. Sailing trips are already planned from 2026, and the anticipation is huge!

André and his wife Evelien have dealt intensively with the construction of the “Quadra” in the past few months. "We are doing well and the construction of the 'Quadra' is also going well," reports André from the Dutch Franeker. The fuselage, which was manufactured with Abeking and Rasmussen more than 30 years ago, was never completed, but the couple has big plans. The design is based on the famous Schoner designs by John Alden, which makes the project particularly exciting. "We have been working on the ship since January," explains Evelien, adding that the engine has now been installed and the ship can drive independently.

interior design and comfort

The interior of the "Quadra" has already started, and the Hanzens rely on maritime flair and comfort. "We are lucky with a very nice carpenter who has installed all the walls and ceilings in a short time," reports Evelien. The "Quadra" will offer three double cabins for guests and two crew cabins. With a spacious salon and a well -equipped kitchen, the comfort on board will not be neglected. "Soon we will start with the interior and the construction of the kitchen and cupboards," she says full of anticipation.

The Hanzens take the necessary time for their project and plan to extend the keel and set the masts. "We have calculated delays and decided not to offer sailing trips until 2026," said André. This means that the "Quadra" will be shown again in Wilhelmshaven at the Sailing Cup in the fall of 2026 at the earliest. The maritime community can therefore look forward to the return of the Hanzens and their new sailor!
