Vigil in Neustadtgödens: Together against anti -Semitism and terror!
One year after the devastating attack by the militant of extremist organization Hamas on Israel, memorial events are now in Neustadtgödens and Wilhelmshaven to commemorate the victim and to protest against anti -Semitism and hatred. These actions, organized by the Rogate monastery in cooperation with Brother Francis, the representative for the interreligious dialogue in the Friesland district, are both an act of memory and a call to solidarity.
On Monday, October 7th, the citizens have the opportunity to take part in two vigils. The first takes place at 3:30 p.m. in the former synagogue in Neustadtgödens. Mayor Stephan Eiklenborg will give a speech at this event. In the later course of the day, the participants gather at the synagogue square in Wilhelmshaven at 6 p.m., where Mayor Carsten Feist holds the main speech.
a sign of peace
These vigils are not only a sign of commemoration, but also a clear statement against anti -Semitism and violence. In this context, musicians and representatives of the parishes will also be present in order to give the events a cultural dimension. Among the participants are names such as Dimitar Dimitrov from Berlin, Hanne Onken from the parish of Gödens and Pastor Kai Wessels from Ev.-Luth. Church circle Friesland-Wilhelmshaven.
A central element of the vigil will be a common prayer of peace between Jews and Christians. The request for the release of the hostages and the memory of victims of violence is in the foreground. The call for responsibility and creating a respectful and diverse coexistence is of essential importance, especially in the face of the increasing anti -Semitic incidents worldwide.
"We stand together against any form of hatred and intolerance," explains brother Franziskus. It is emphasized that this initiative is also a call to all people to actively work against anti -Semitism. The commitment of the organizers shows how important it is to rely on diversity and peace in a time.
The local community is cordially invited to take part in these important vigil. Membership for the Jewish community and the mutual understanding are central values that are taught and promoted by these events.
These memorial events are not only important for the deceased, but also a step in the right direction for an inclusive society. Solidarity and empathy are now more challenged than ever to face the challenges of today.
