The violin of Igor Orloff: a concert against anti -Semitism in WHV!

A very special musical event is imminent! On November 8, the VHS Wilhelmshaven will be the setting for an extraordinary lecture concert, which is reminiscent of the 1938 Reichspogromnacht. That fateful night the synagogues burned and the systematic persecution of the Jews by the National Socialists was visible to the world. With this concert, the organizers set a strong sign against anti -Semitism and honor the dark history.

the violin, the story speaks

The focus of the evening is a violin that once belonged to Igor (Itzchak) Orloff, a Jewish-Russian musician who was murdered by the Nazis in Auschwitz. This violin, although not from a famous violin maker and not particularly old, has an invaluable emotional value. Thanks to the half-Jewish Lola Grün, who once played in Orloff's orchestra, the instrument could be saved. She took the violin into her care before she was deported to the Buchenwald concentration camp. After its liberation, the violin was finally handed over to the pianist and musicologist Roman Salyutov, who now brings them back to sound.

The concert is accompanied by Alexander Lofland, a talented violinist, while Yevgeny Sapozhnikov, a Wilhelmshaven cellist and lecturer, is also part of the trio. Program area manager Diana Bogdanski emphasizes that the event is not only musically but also politically important. The pianist Salyutov will tell the moving history of the violin and is then available for questions and conversations. These lecture concerts are not only a tribute to the past, but also a call to vigilance against anti -Semitism.

An event that should not be missed!

After a first, non -public appearance in April, the trio is now returning for a public concert. On November 8th at 6:30 p.m. in the VHS hall, visitors can experience the moving performance. Tickets are available in the VHS, the music school and at the box office. Be there when the “Voice of Orloffs” is brought back to life and let yourself be touched by this unique story!
