Federal Ministry of Economics stops Russian LNG: A clear course!
Brunsbüttel, Deutschland - The Federal Ministry of Economics has taken a dramatic step to end the dependence on Russian liquid gas! According to a report by the British Financial Times, the five LNG terminals in Germany were ordered not to accept deliveries from Russia. This is done in the middle of the tense geopolitical situation, which was triggered by the Ukraine war. Particularly explosive: In the coming days, several ships with Russian LNG should be traveling to Brunsbüttel in Schleswig-Holstein!
Under the direction of Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck (Greens), the Ministry of the Bundes own German Energy Terminal GmbH made it clear that the acceptance of Russian LNG would undermine the purpose of the newly built terminals. These are intended to help Germany become regardless of Russian gas. The Kremlin reacted sharply to these developments: Wladimir Putin criticized the German “Green Agenda” at the Waldai forum and questioned how a large economy like Germany could survive without Russian gas and with a waiver of atomic energy.
EU increases sanctions against Russia
The tensions between Russia and the EU continue to increase! The EU Parliament recently coordinated the enforcement of sanctions against Russia. The EU is preparing its 15th sanction package, which targeted manufacturers, whose components have been found in Russian weapons. Josep Borrell, the EU's chief diplomat, emphasized that the measures for bypass sanctions have to be reinforced in order to cut off Russia from important imports.
The EU has already decided 14 sanction packages in February 2022 since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine to weaken the Russian economy and to hinder the war effort. But despite these measures, Russia succeeds in bypassing many sanctions, which experts rate as ineffective. The geopolitical tensions between Russia and the EU are anything but solved!
