Moments of happiness in the Wesermarsch: How little things make us happy

In the Low German column "Up’n Dot Broht", Marieta Ahlers takes us on an exciting journey through the Wesermarsch and beyond. This time it's all about the fascinating topic of "happiness". What does happiness really mean? And when do we meet?

The question of happiness is as individual as the people themselves. For some, happiness is synonymous with wealth, a chic car or a steep career. They hunt tirelessly afterwards, while others find the real happiness in the little moments of life - in time with friends, celebrating or on vacation. But when do you actually notice that you are happy? We often only recognize it when the moment has already passed.

Sometimes happiness lies in the simplest things. Ahlers describes a morning when she went for a walk with her dog. The sunrise dipped the landscape in a red light, the fog slowly rose and the birds sang - a peaceful sight that left it. At that moment she felt completely happy. Such moments are common when you are ready to see them. Maybe we should just stop hunting for happiness, and instead the small but valuable moments of life consciously perceive.

Happiness can often come faster than you think. You just have to be ready to allow it and recognize the beauty of life. A simple “moment of happiness” can illuminate a whole day and remind us that true happiness is often hidden in the small, inconspicuous moments.
