Brand in the BBZ Brake: Canta open again, roof work continues!

A devastating fire has hit the vocational training center (BBZ) in Brake and left massive damage! The fire broke out on August 8, and the consequences are still noticeable. The district library, the professional center and the cafeteria of the building were affected. But there are bright spots: The cafeteria resumed on October 22, as Gunnar Meister, head of the Wesermarsch district's press and public relations work, reports.

Although the cafeteria is not yet completely finished, the remaining work is almost complete and no longer interfere. Foot floors were renewed inside, walls were closed and freshly painted. The last work, including the installation of the ventilation system, should be completed by the 45th calendar week. The elevator will also be ready for use from the same week after it has been waited.

damage and repairs on the roof

The largest construction site is currently on the roof of the BBZ building. Measures urgently need to be taken here to close the roof and dry the roof insulation. Gunnar Meister explains that the drying in the 45th week should begin and that depending on the degree of moisture will take about four to six weeks. The cost of the damage is estimated on alarming 250,000 to 300,000 euros! The fire was caused by a technical defect, but whether it occurred in the area of the photovoltaic system or the ventilation system remains unclear. The opening of the district library is still uncertain and depends on the progress of the work. The loan periods for books are automatically extended until January 13, 2025 to meet users.
