500 letters against loneliness: Christmas offensive in the Oldenburger Land

In a warm campaign, the "Young Caritas" in the Oldenburg region started a call to reach people who are lonely at Christmas through personal letters. Over 500 letters, designed by various senders from all over Germany, have already arrived at Caritas in Vechta. The campaign aims to combat loneliness in words, such as church-und-leben.de . A special participation came from the Ludwig Fresenius School in Stadthagen, whose 100 pupils wrote letters with enthusiasm. These personal messages, many of them closed in colorful envelopes, show an enormous variety of thoughts and wishes that are forwarded to seniors in old people's homes and patients in clinics.

The letters are not only a gesture of friendliness, but also a sign of the connection in the often insulating Christmas season. In her open letter, Rita describes her life with dog and grandchildren and invites recipients to answer her - a simple but touching way to show community. The Christmas wish to spend "a beautiful and magical Christmas party" is also stated, which is returned to the writer by the State Caritas Association. The letters will be distributed to the needy in good time.

a modern Christkindl brief campaign

Kurier.at . The wishes range from material concerns to longing for peace and health - a reflection of today's society. Each letter is answered individually, and this does not only happen from tradition. Caritas has also established a modern form of the Christkindlbrief campaign, in which people in need can be supported by unfulfilled desired letters. Together, donations and letters are initiated to single or needy people to show that nobody has to be alone during the Christmas season.
