Future for the America line: expansion between Uelzen and Langwedel planned!

The America line, an important traffic artery between Uelzen and Langwedel, is faced with a comprehensive renovation! She has been promoting passengers for over 150 years, but the increasing number of trains urgently require modernizations. Deutsche Bahn AG plans to make the 97.3 kilometer route fit for the future. But patience is required: the first excavators are expected to only roll in the 2030s.

planned improvements and electrification

The expansion is part of a large -scale project that drives the federal government forward to bring the rail network up to date. The route between Langwedel and Uelzen is upgraded with modern safety standards, additional overtaking options and new noise barriers. Particularly exciting: the electrification of the route! Electrically operated trains are not only more powerful, they also reduce transport costs and make freight traffic more environmentally friendly. Deutsche Bahn promises that the speed is raised to up to 100 kilometers per hour - a real progress for the region!

a long way to the start of construction

The project is currently still in the early planning phase. The preliminary planning has been completed, but it will still be possible until the final approval and the start of construction. Deutsche Bahn assumes that the work could start in the mid-2030s at the earliest. Residents and politicians are already calling for extensive noise protection measures to minimize the expenses due to the expected increase in freight trains. The Verden district administration is in close exchange with the municipalities to represent the interests of the region.
