Fast internet in Uelzen: Lünecom fights with financial turbulence!
In the city of Bad Bevensen and the neighboring communities, a dramatic development step becomes visible: Lünecom, once on the way to the fiber optic stronghold in northern Germany, has imposed a temporary stopover! After a turbulent time in which the company expanded rapidly, it now signals alarm signals - and not wrong! The subsidiary of the Northern Fiber Holding, behind which the mighty UBS is standing, threaten financial difficulties.
Financial turbulence and worries
As can be seen from an internal employee meeting, a rescue concept, as a “Pitstop plan”, is designed to keep Lünecom on course. The growth is interrupted in order to save urgently needed means and to press the costs. Construction projects are postponed while the company is in a financial shade. The numbers speak a clear language: a loss of 2.6 million euros for 2022 and even 25 million euros for 2023 at the Northern Fiber Holding! This happens despite the takeover of numerous companies last year.
But the hope remains: The Northern Fiber states to provide over 500,000 households with lightning -fast internet. One billion euros are to be invested in the further network expansion - a huge plan, which has currently faltered. The Lünecom and its parent company refuse questions about the situation while tensions are growing within the company.
In the middle of this uncertainty, Roland Waltereit plays a key role. In his function as managing director of Lünecom and Chief Network Officer of the Northern Fiber, he is supposed to steer the company's fortunes. It is to be hoped that the "Pitstop" will not lead to permanent braking! The future of the fast internet in Bad Bevensen and the surrounding area is on the brink - the coming months will be decisive.
