Stuttgart, Deutschland - Rudi Cerne, the well -known moderator of "file number XY ... unresolved", did not always stand in front of the camera. Before he was celebrated as criminal cases of enlightening stars on ZDF, he shone as a figure skaters in the 1980s. As he now revealed in the talk show "3nach9", his father was a passionate figure skaters, but whose career brutally ended - he had to be amputated at the age of 22 due to serious injuries. A fate that Rudi Cerne actually felt on the ice rink.

father and son: an arduous path

Cerne, who was one of the best figure skaters of his time, remembers a childhood that was shaped by his father's expectations. In the said talk show, moderator Giovanni di Lorenzo asked whether Cerne Senior was proud of his son's dream. "I think so although he never showed it," admits Rudi, adding that his father ran him to top performance "with an iron hand". Falls and injuries were part of the agenda, and despite all the pain, his father never had pity for the challenges that Rudi experienced.

"Now don't be like this", the father's eyes seem to have said when Rudi was painfully on the hard ice. The relationship was burdened by the strict family hierarchies of that time. Rudi himself admitted that he would have preferred to have become a footballer, but football always placed behind his father's wish, which led him into an unwanted ice skating adventure. Despite these experiences, Cerne does not wear bitter feelings against his father, but he would have liked to tell him something before he died.
