Zero new refugee assignments for Uelzen: So it stays calm!
Zero new refugee assignments for Uelzen: So it stays calm!
In Lower Saxony, new refugee assignments were published, and for the district of Uelzen, the number of assigned people remains to zero. The Ministry of the Interior has set the allocations for the next few months, in which 11,000 refugees are to be accommodated in the municipalities. Nevertheless, this does not affect Uelzen, since - as already agreed with the country - there is no additional recordingoll.
The Uelzen district benefits from the refugee accommodation in Bad Bodenteich, which is operated by the DRK district association for the Lower Saxony State Authority. The capacities of this accommodation are fully counted towards the district's accommodation rate, which means that Uelzen does not receive any further assignments. Only in special cases in which asylum seekers already have family connections to the district can be made.
challenge for neighboring circles
In contrast, the adjacent counties such as Gifhorn, Celle, and Lüneburg have to deal with higher assignments. You have to accommodate hundreds of people while Uelzen can rely on the so far defined zero. This is a challenge for the neighboring regions, especially due to the tight living space and the limited capacities in emergency accommodation. For example, 726 people in the Gifhorn district, in the district of Celle 583 and in the district of Lüneburg 921 must be accommodated. The distribution of refugees is based on the population and the previous recording rates. The individual municipalities are responsible for the internal distribution. The current distribution of distribution has dropped compared to the previous months; In September 2023, around 3670 people were looking for protection, while in the same period there were only 1750. These numbers reflect the adjustments that are particularly necessary in terms of living space.
The Situation in the Uelzen district and the assignment of refugees were thus influenced by the operational capacities in Bad Bodenteich. While the district has so far not received any additional assignments, it remains to be seen how the situation and allocations will develop in the coming months. The detailed location and forecasts can be found in the publications of the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior, which contributes to the transparency in local politics. This is also important, since the challenges in other counties give a clear impression of the different circumstances within Lower Saxony.
