Landkreis Stade, Deutschland - The housing market in the district of Stade is under pressure! In the lower price segment in particular, it is a challenge for many people to find an affordable rental apartment. In order to counteract this, the district of Stade has started an Initiative that aims to provide more living space for low -income households. District Councilor Madeleine Pönitz makes it clear that 2024 budget is still available to support this important measure.

The "Program for the acquisition of occupancy rights for existing apartments" offers landlords a financial handout. If you rent your apartments to authorized persons with defined rental prices, you can benefit from this funding. The owners who acquire occupancy rights undertake to rent their apartments exclusively to people with a living permit. The rent must not exceed a defined upper limit. In return, the district of Stade receives a subsidy, whereby the duration of the obligations between five and 30 years varies.

The landlords have to decide who moves into their apartments as long as the potential tenants meet the funding criteria. The rental prices are based on the "appropriate costs for accommodation" in accordance with the Social Code. This funding applies to the entire district of Stade, but not to the Hanseatic cities of Stade and Buxtehude, which have their own funding programs.

The amount of the funding is 2 euros per square meter of living space and month with a term of five to nine years. With a term of ten years or more, the amount increases to 2.50 euros per square meter and month. Landlords who make their apartments available for a period of ten years or more can also receive up to 10,000 euros for necessary renovations. The subsidized apartments must have an appropriate size: up to 60 square meters are permitted for two people, and 15 square meters are added for each additional person, with the maximum living space being 95 square meters.
