Sampaoli takes over the scepter: Stade Rennes hopes for a new upswing!
Rennes, Frankreich - FC Stade Rennes has a new hope! Jorge Sampaoli, the experienced trainer from Argentina, takes over the scepter at the crisping Ligue-1 club, which is currently in 13th place. With a contract by 2026, the 64-year-old is supposed to bring a breath of fresh air to the team and reverse the recently disappointing performances.
After a short but intensive time at Flamengo last year, Sampaoli is back in France, where he worked at Olympique Marseille between March 2021 and July 2022. An exciting detail: his first competitive game with Stade Rennes will take place on November 24th against Bruno Génésio, the former coach of Rennes. A good omen? In his debut with Marseille, he achieved a 1-0 win against Génésio, and the fans hope for a similar success story!
a coach with passion
"We are all very happy that Jorge comes to us," enthuses club president Arnaud Pouille. "He is known for his professionalism and humanism. His strong bond with the players and his commitment are exactly what we need to bring the club back." Stade Rennes only got eleven points from eleven games this season and had to leave the pitch six times as a loser. Sampaoli is now supposed to bring the mobilizing energy that is necessary to tackle the competition with new determination.
