20 years of the Ottenbeck special school: together strong for a better future!

The Ottenbeck special school in Stade recently celebrated its 20th anniversary and thus set an example for the positive development in the field of special education. On this occasion, not only students, but also parents as well as teachers and other employees were invited to celebrate together. Among the guests were District Administrator Kai Seefried and the first district councilor Thorsten Heinze, who underlined the special status of the school as the school authority of the district of Stade.

The anniversary party, which took place shortly before the autumn holidays, was a happy event with a variety of program items. Headmistress Frauke Thews thanked the Stade district for the constant support, which has contributed to the further development of the school in the past two decades: "The close cooperation with the district and the provision of generous means made it possible to meet the high requirements of a special school in the focus of intellectual development."

committed team and individual support

The committed team, which consists of 49 teachers and 42 educational staff, was particularly emphasized. The school accompaniment of other providers were also recognized for their important role. District Administrator Seefried emphasized: "This team sees every single child and promotes it individually. Great work is done here!" This commitment is reflected in the student body: At the moment, 235 children are visiting the Ottenbeck special school, which are taught in a total of 28 classes up to the 12th grade.

Most students are looked after in the main house in Ottenbeck, while in the Friedrich Fröbel School in Stade-Campe there is a branch. In addition, six classes are offered in two cooperation schools to help the students to integrate as independently as possible into society.

To document the special work of the Ottenbeck special school and make it accessible to a wider audience, a new image film was produced. This film impressively shows how the students learn and develop here. The district administrator took this opportunity to advertise new teachers: "This film shows that it is great to work at the Ottenbeck special school. Come and complement our competent team!"
