Sustainability market in Uslar: tips for a greener life!
In a spectacular change, the weekly market in Uslar turned into an exciting "sustainability market". This all about the question: How can we make our everyday life more environmentally friendly? The district of Northeim used this opportunity to get into conversation directly with the citizens and to inform them about sustainable ways of life.
A highlight of the market was Petra Schmalle's stand, the district's waste consultant. She explained how important the bio bin is and how correctly garbage should be separated. All residents in the district are obliged to separate their organic waste from residual waste - unless they compost in their own garden. To help the citizens, she distributed the informative brochure "Composting - easy" free of charge and gave valuable tips for the correct composting. If you want to learn more about the various biotonna sizes, you will find additional information on the district's website.

At the status of climate protection management, visitors were able to learn everything about the activities to reduce CO2 emissions. Under the motto "Energy transition at home", the district works closely with the consumer center and the Lower Saxony climate protection and energy agency. Climate protection manager Dr. Carolin Fornaçon and her colleague Jennifer Hoefs informed about heating optimization, heating exchange and solar energy. A special highlight is the last lecture of this year's series on energetic renovation, which will take place on November 14th in the town hall in Uslar.
In addition, there was exciting information about the "Solardachkastaster Südniedersachsen" and the competition "Our village lives sustainably". For the younger visitors, the interactive hiking exhibition "Climate Maker" was a real magnet, which can be visited free of charge in the local museum of the city of Northeim until December 15th. Other stands, including the Uslar Family Center with a “repair meeting” and the NABU with upcycling ideas, made the market a colorful and informative experience for everyone.
