Leipzig's tram station becomes an innovation campus for creative minds!

Leipzig. A historical place becomes the center of innovation! The old Leutzscher tram station, which opened on March 24, 1908, is soon to be transformed into a pulsating innovation campus for creative minds and companies. The impressive, listed arches, which have been empty for a long time, will soon be filled with new life. The plans are ambitious and promise an exciting future for this historic place.

The two large car halls, which consist of steel and clinker, are 85 and 110 meters long and offer plenty of space for the new ideas. Currently they are rarely available for the old Tatra tracks. But that should change! According to LVB spokesman Marc Backhaus, a sales process for the area is already underway, which is expected to take until the end of the year. A local group plans to acquire the property and to renovate the tram station.

New residential area and green parking landscapes

But that's just the beginning! As part of an urban planning competition, an impressive draft for a new district was presented. The winning design, created by a Berlin planning team, stipulates that the listed buildings around the tram yard to transform into "Ateliers of the Future" that offer space for art, culture and gastronomy. A public neighborhood park will also be part of the plan to offer the residents a green oasis.

A total of 230 apartments are to be built in this new quarter, and the entire area is designed car-free. Mobility stations with car sharing and bicycle stations are set up to enable residents to move sustainable. A new tunnel for cyclists and pedestrians is also planned to improve the connection to Böhlitz-Ehrenberg. The future of the Leutzscher tram station looks promising - a place that unites history and innovation!
