Jubilee of the jazz: Sleepy Town Jazzband starts with a concert in Holzminden!

Holzminden, Deutschland - The Jazz Club Holzminden will celebrate its 40th anniversary on November 13, 2025. On this occasion, the board declared the anniversary year throughout 2025. The start of the anniversary year is a concert of the "Sleepy Town Jazzband", which will take place on Friday, January 17, 2025.

The "Sleepy Town Jazzband" is known for your oldtime jazz in a typical New Orleans line-up, which includes styles such as Dixieland, Swing, Blues, Gospel and Folk. The band was founded in 1986 by members of the Junge Jazz Club Holzminden e.V. and had their first appearance on November 1, 1986 at the Holzminden downtown festival. Founding members of the band are Roland Berthold (drums) and Wilfried Steinmetz (clarinet, old saxophone). Over the years, other musicians have been added, including Freddy Ernst (trumpet), Holger Fischer (double bass), Bernd Güthoff (tenor saxophone), Heiner Struck (Banjo), Erich Tietzel (trombone) and Wulf Weilinger (Banjo).
