Muna teaching: leadership is reminiscent of darkest chapters of history

Kampstüh, 38512 Lehre, Deutschland - The former Army ammunition (Muna) in teaching is the focus of a commemorative guidance, which will take place on Saturday, October 19, at 2:30 p.m. The event, which Uwe Otte is headed, should not only remind you of the history of the site, but also of the events between 1933 and 1945. Meeting point for the interested participants is the entrance to the Muna, which can be found well signposted on the district road to Boimstorf.

Uwe Otte, a former councilor and connoisseur of Munich history, will lead the participants through the site and give insights into the function of the buildings that are still standing today. The Muna site, which includes over 200 hectares, once included around 140 buildings, including 92 bunkers. The facility had played a crucial role during the Second World War, especially in ammunition for the raid on Poland on September 1, 1939. It is impressive that hundreds of forced laborers, including many Soviet prisoners of war, were here, some of which did not survive.

evacuation of the Muna

The liberation of the Muna by US troops on April 12, 1945 marked a turning point in the history of the region. The village of teaching had already been freed the day before. In the post -war period, the British took responsibility for the site that came to a list of ammunition institutions in 1946 that were to be destroyed. Although this plan was initially not implemented, the British troops blew up ammunition on the “new meadow” of the Muna site until they deducted in February 1951.

According to current reports, the full evacuation of the last armor loads on the premises for autumn 2024 is planned. This is expected to be the last phase of a long process that should lead to the entire muna site, including the "new meadow", becomes free of ordnance. This significant progress is also pointed out during the tour to raise awareness of the historical scope and the associated memories.

The Muna has shaped many people through its complex history, and the upcoming events on the premises offer the opportunity to deal with this past. Participation in the leadership is a valuable opportunity for a comprehensive examination of the history and the importance of the place.
