Happy Christmas miracle: Tündernerin wins 10,000 euros!

A truly unforgettable event happened in Hameln: Sabine Klemm from Tündern won the fantastic sum of 10,000 euros in this year's Dewezet and Volksbank Hameln-Stadthagen home Christmas competition. On Thursday afternoon, the lucky winner received a call that she initially thought was a joke while she was in an important customer meeting. Surprisingly, the caller, Sören Hergenröther from Dewezet, confirmed the surprising win, which made Klemm happy, but also the question of what she would do with the money.

53-year-old Sabine Klemm immediately told her family about her win in a group call message, which caused a big surprise. “I don’t even know what I can do with it,” she said honestly. A family vacation together was the first thought she pursued with her 10,000 euros. The lottery ticket was purchased between December 6th and 7th at one of the 42 supporting partner stores, but she cannot remember the exact store. The prize was confirmed by the official verification of the notary Dr. Volker Schöpe secured and drawn using the lottery drum.

Switching from German marks to euros remains possible

In another notable announcement, the Deutsche Bundesbank announces that the exchange of German marks (DEM) into euros is still possible indefinitely and free of charge. Those interested can do this directly at the Bundesbank branches or by post. The bank accepts banknotes and coins issued up to June 20, 1948 and conversion is carried out at the official exchange rate of €1 = DEM 1.95583.

However, customers who own coins and banknotes from older vintages should note that some older pieces can no longer be exchanged. This applies in particular to the DEM 2 coin of the first minting as well as banknotes that were issued before June 20, 1948. Further details about the exchange option and the associated requirements can be found on the official website Bundesbank.
