The first match day of the REWE JUNIORCUP 2025 took place on January 10, 2025 in the Lokhalle Göttingen. Due to snow chaos, the Hannover 96 team's arrival was delayed, which ultimately led to a change in the game plan. Despite these challenges, the event started an hour late, but took place in a warm hall with good atmosphere and food.
Particularly noteworthy was JFV 37 Göttingen's surprising 3-3 draw against FC Fulham in the TSN-Beton group. The spectators could look forward to lots of goals, exciting duels and a positive atmosphere.
The results of the groups
In the Hanseatic group, 1. SC Göttingen 05 recorded two wins: a 6:2 against SG Werratal and a 6:1 against FC Gleichen. Werratal then defeated VfR Dostluk Osterode 5-1. However, FC Gleichen had to admit defeat three times, including 1:6 against Göttingen and 0:10 against Austria Vienna.
In the Sparkasse Göttingen group, JFV Eichsfeld suffered a 2-0 defeat against HSV, but won the match against SV Rhume-Oder 2-1. SV Rhume-Oder and JFV West Göttingen later drew 1-1. JFV West Göttingen previously lost against JFV Rhume-Oder 1:4.
There were also interesting games in the TSN-Beton group. In addition to the draw against Fulham, JFV 37 Göttingen celebrated a 6:1 win against SVG Einbeck and a 4:3 against JSG Eintracht HöhBernSee. The latter lost 3-4 in the following encounter against Göttingen.
Continuation and outlook
No team from the Gökick region was represented in the VGH group. The continuation of the games is scheduled for Friday at 4:00 p.m., with the match between FC Gleichen and SG Werratal. The REWE JUNIORCUP 2025 will take place from January 8th to 11th, 2025 in the Lokhalle Göttingen, and it promises many more exciting encounters.
