Gigantic solar park in Göttingen: 31.5 million kWh for 9,000 households!
A gigantic step into the green future: At Göttingen, an impressive solar park opened its gates on Friday! With an area that corresponds to 40 football fields, this facility is one of the largest of its kind in the region and is operated by the Stadtwerke Göttingen.
According to the municipal utilities, the open space-photovoltaic system will generate an incredible 31.5 million kilowatt lessons annually. This means that around 9,000 households can be supplied with clean, renewable electricity. The municipal utilities have invested a whopping 16.5 million euros in this future -oriented project. Compared to conventional electricity, the new system will save 12,000 tons of CO2 annually - a real profit for the environment!
Place for sheep and other animals
The area of the solar park, which is located near Deiderode, belongs to the municipalities of Rosdorf and Friedland in the district of Göttingen. Mayor Andreas Friedrichs (SPD) is pleased with the project, even if energy projects always come across mixed reactions. Particularly exciting: The up -to -date modules create space for plants and animals. Sheep could graze there while rainwater can seep away as usual. An innovative approach that combines nature and technology!
