Community moves together: commemoration and hope after suspected bomb!
Last Sunday there was a special event in the Weststadt, which dealt with the lively memories of the historical events of the bombing of 1944. The ceremony ceremoniously started with the Eurovision hymn, which was presented by the trombone choir of the Christ community. In his opening speech, Pastor Reuter called on recognizing the importance of such rituals, especially in difficult times. He underlined the need for community and hope that can be strengthened by prayer and memory.
A central guest of the event was Mayor Broistedt, who expressed her thanks to the citizens of the Weststadt in her speech. She addressed the support and patience of the residents who have often helped to defuse bombs - this was the sixth evacuation in just three years. There are currently three suspicions of the examination. Broistedt also emphasized the excellent work of all helpers and organizations, including the Johanniter, the volunteer fire brigade as well as the ASB and the DRK, which have contributed significantly to successful evacuation. Special thanks went to the ordnance disposal service, which bravely opposed the challenging task of the bomb clearance.

A central element of the ceremony were the intercession in which peace was prayed for peace in the world. The current situation in Ukraine and the Middle East in particular was emphasized. The gathered were asked to show solidarity in thoughts with the people affected. The joint blessing during the service and the song "Keep us, God" rounded off the event and conveyed a feeling of togetherness among those present.
The event was not only a review of the history, but also an expression of the collective commitment of the Weststadtgemeinde for Peace and Security. Such events are essential to raise awareness of the importance of the community and the challenges that you face together.
