Westerbeck tests resident traffic: security or traffic jam?
On the Schleichweg between Triangel and Neuhaus could soon only be allowed! The local council Westerbeck spoke out in a heated meeting for a one -year test ban, which is in stark contrast to the decision of the Triangel local council. After intensive consultations, the Westerbecker decided to put the security of the residents in the foreground, while the Triangeler expressed concerns about longer travel and traffic relocations.
"We first try it out for the duration of a year," said Mayor Stefan Lippel. The narrow path carries risks, especially for cyclists who use it to get to the bus stop at the B188. The municipal administration has already noticed that non -residents also use the Schleichweg to bypass the dragic crossing, which disadvantages the Triangelers. "It leads to the disadvantage of the Triangeler," admits Lippel, but the security of the residents has priority.
Now the municipal council is asked
The decision on the passage ban now lies with the municipal council, which will vote on whether an application is made to the Gifhorn district office. Westerbeckers want to involve the residents in the process and take their experiences into account after the test year. If the ban does not have the desired effect, a speed limit could be considered. The citizens' interest community (BIG) has made alternative proposals for traffic calming, but these have not yet been discussed.
