Gifhorn cult station: TV restaurant after only seven months failed!
Gifhorn. A year full of heights and depths ends for the Heihoweyhs restaurant! After a brilliant start with a TV shoot, in which the star chefs Alex Kumptner and Frank Rosin led the fortunes, it is now over. What was once celebrated as a new gastronomic highlight at the cult station closes after only seven months. A drama full of disappointments and unfulfilled expectations!
The cult station operator Volker Schlag and his partner Kian Rohde had given everything to bring the restaurant to life. With the support of the prominent cooks, a concept should arise that counteracts the gastro death. The big winner of the TV format, Marko Weyh, took over the management and the opening was a complete success. "It was a gold pit," enthused Schlag when the restaurant was fully booked for days. But the lucky streak did not last long. Suddenly there were problems that destroyed success. Bot his help, but the organizational defects remained.
The decline of the Heiweyhs
The decision to give up the restaurant was not easy. "Many reasons" led to this step, including financial difficulties and organizational problems. "A lot has been made for television," he said disappointed. Despite his more than 20 years of experience in gastronomy, he found that he had to invest more in order to achieve the desired standard. On October 26, 2023, exactly one year after the filming, the Heiweyhs closed for the last time. "Oh yes, I would never do that again," said Weyh about his participation in TV format.
For the cult station, there is hope for a new tenant. Schlag is optimistic that the modernization through the TV show will increase the attractiveness of the location. While the search for a successor begins, the cult station remains a place for events and culinary experiences. "I am very, very sad how it came," summarizes Schlag.
