Wangerooge: Council decides important infrastructure measures and residential construction!
In a dramatic step for the North Sea island of Wangerooge, decisive course was set for the future of the infrastructure in the latest council meeting! With a clear focus on social housing and strengthening the community, Torsten Stumpf was once again elected as a municipal fire chief. But that's not all: the majority of the Council voted and plans to use a valuable property in Siedlerstraße in order to create urgently needed living space. The groundbreaking could take place in September 2025 - a ray of hope for families on the island!
important infrastructure projects
After long struggles, the renovation work at the cemetery chapel was also decided with household funds that are already available. A job is planned for the funeral contractor in a modular container construction. However, the population of Wangerooge, which, according to census 2022, is 1069, remains controversial. The Council has decided to do without a lawsuit, since the actual number may even be lower!
rising fees and new tax regulations
The water fees are also increased: the amount of wastewater amount increases to three euros, while the rainwater fee increases to one euro per sealed square meter. These adjustments are a reaction to increased operating and investment costs. In addition, the takeover of a guarantee of over 205,000 euros was decided for the purchase of the old gym. The property tax reform comes into force on January 1, 2025, but the final rates are still pending. Property owners should adjust to possible changes!
