New regional manager at OOWV: Bernd Janssen returns home!

Bernd Janssen, the new regional manager of the Oldenburg-East Frisian Water Association (OowV), has taken over his position for the districts of Friesland and Wittmund! The 58-year-old, who follows Christoph Kraft, brings a breath of fresh air to the organization and is now the central contact for all water-related matters in the region. His change feels like a coming home, because he is half frieze and half of East Frisian and knows the area like his pocket.

Janssen, a real number man, has an impressive career in the food industry. Before moving to the OowV, he worked in various management positions, including as a managing director at Vion, where he was responsible for up to 1200 employees. "A glass of water, there is a lot behind it," he says, showing his growing interest in the challenges of water management. The OOWV, which he describes as "future -oriented and versatile set up", now offers him the opportunity to use his skills in a new area.

a new beginning with support

Since his job on September 1st, Janssen has been in the middle of the action. He is supported by a committed team that helps him to familiarize himself quickly. "The bouquet is getting bigger and more colorful," the new regional manager is happy about the open and helpful atmosphere among his colleagues. Around 50 employees are active for the OOWV in the counties, and Janssen has his office at the Operational Center at Nordfrostring in Schortens.

The OOWV is not only responsible for water supply in the region, but also for dirty water cleaning in four municipalities and from 2025 even in six. Janssen is enthusiastic about the opportunity to work on site and to experience the challenges of the water management directly. In his free time he finds compensation with his family, with his Golden Retriever in the garden or at football, where he celebrates the goals of Werder Bremen. A new phase of life has started and Janssen is ready to raise the water management in Friesland and Wittmund to the next level!
