Snow in the Emsland: Does the winter foretaste come or does it fail?

Snow in the Emsland: Does the winter foretaste come or does it fail?

on Tuesday, November 19, the Emsland could finally experience the first snowflakes of winter! One reason for joy for everyone who loves winter splendor. But the anticipation could be clouded quickly, because the German Weather Service (DWD) warns: winter pleasure will not last long. Meteorologist Finn Rolf from Hamburg initially announces a rainy start to the day, caused by a low that moves from the Netherlands to Lower Saxony.

The temperatures will be between 3 and 4 degrees in front of the rain, but with the precipitation the thermometer could fall to 0 degrees. An exciting weather game: If the amount of precipitation is sufficient, the rains could pass into snow around noon. But there are uncertainties here! According to Rolf, the main precipitation could also fall from the Emsland, which means that the region may not get much snow.

Snow, but only for a short time!

, however, if the Emsland is in the center of the precipitation, 1 to 2 centimeters of snow are possible - more is not expected. But the white splendor will probably only be short -term. The best chances of a continued blanket of snow are available on well -insulated roofs or cars. Drivers should be on smooth roads through slush, because as soon as it pulls out deep, the snow will pass back into rain and the temperatures will rise.

Already on Tuesday afternoon, other showers can be expected in which snowflakes could also fall, even with lightning! The next few days also remain changeable, with the possibility of other showers and occasional snowfall. Rolf describes the Situation as a "foretaste" for winter, but there is no sustainable winter landscape for the time being. In the nights it could fall around 0 degrees with a clear sky, which can make the streets dangerously smooth. If you hope for a Winter Wonderland, you have to be patient!
