New green for Emden: 30 trees replace storm victims at the Frisiaschloot!

In Emden there are changes to the Frisiaschloot: The administrative committee has given a new order that provides for the planting of replacement trees for the poplars damaged by storms in 2022. The tailwind for this project comes from the Leeraner company "The Landscape Gardener", which has been awarded the contract. The city administration has estimated the costs of the construction of over 43,000 euros.

The cycle hiking trail on the Frisiaschloot has been accessible again since May, but now chic young trees are supposed to provide more green variety. It is planned to plant 15 red beeches and 15 hornbeam along the freshly paved path. These tree species should withstand future weather extremes better than their predecessors. Finally, three consecutive storms in February 2022 severely damaged the existing trees, so that many poplars had to be removed to ensure the traffic safety of the cycle path.

new trees for the city park

In addition to the trees on the Frisiaschloot, it also gets a little greener on the adjacent VW scout. There, three pillar-stalk oaks are to be planted in the middle of the green space already upgraded in April. These oaks were also donated by the traditional Emder Thiele tea, which wanted to do something for nature and climate in the year of its 150th anniversary. "We would like to thank you very much," said city spokesman Eduard Dinkela.

Part of the horticultural order is also an annual care of the plants after setting them. This ensures that the new trees can grow optimally and enrich the environment.

promotion of digital education

This decision should not only be better equipped with this decision, but also gives the opportunity to digitally prepare the lessons. This is regarded as a necessary step to give educational offers a modern and demand -oriented orientation.

The developments in Emden clearly show that there are large ambitions in both the green urban design and digital education in order to make both nature and school infrastructure future -proof. Further information can be found here.
