Bremer Tor and Café Zipf: Refurbishment instead of demolition - New Hotel 2026!
Bremer Tor and Café Zipf: Refurbishment instead of demolition - New Hotel 2026!
An exciting chapter for Brinkum! The municipality of Stuhr and the Specht Group have decided not to tear off the Bremen Tor and the Café Zipf, but to let it shine in new splendor after a comprehensive renovation. This decision marks a turning point because a complete new building was originally planned. The Committee on Building and District Development has now set the course for a change in the development plan, which forms the basis for this ambitious project.
Christian Evers, the planner, got to the point with a joke: "Some development plans have not lasted long." The old structure of the two buildings is preserved while they are brought together to form a modern complex. Project manager Nico Grutzpalk and architect Moritz Greiling emphasize the enormous potential of the new hotel, which is to offer 60 to 70 beds in the future. Completion is planned for the third to fourth quarter of 2026, provided that there are no unexpected obstacles.
faster with new plans
The administration plans an accelerated procedure, which means that the public does not have to be included early. This is possible because many basics of previous plans are still valid. The basement of the new hotel is classified as dry and worth preserving, while the basement of the Café Zipf is shut down due to water problems. The committee members agreed on their support for the plans, which are regarded as sustainable further development.
The parking situation around the new hotel is also clarified: 27 parking spaces are planned. While some committee members praised the sustainability of the plans, a critic said that a complete change was not really sustainable. Nevertheless, all members voted for the changes to the development plan, which must now still be approved by the administrative committee and council. The search for an operator for the new hotel is already running and the interest is high, as the Specht Group confirms.
